CUTTING EDGE CNC

Precision Manufacturing for the RV Industry and Beyond
5/19/2026 | Millersburg, IN
Founded in 2010 by Danny Miller, Cutting Edge CNC has grown from a small 24' x 40' outbuilding into roughly 37,000 square feet of manufacturing space, serving primarily the RV industry with a strong presence in marine and other wood/plastic products.
The business began as a side project while Danny was still in sales with another company. He picked up a small CNC machine along with two modest accounts—one RV-related, one making kids’ toys—and started cutting parts on the side. There were no guarantees at the outset:
"I didn't know where this would go. You know, there were no guarantees. I didn't have a lot of potential business in the bag waiting, but we have been extremely blessed over the years."
The business grew quickly. In 2013, they purchased a facility that had been part of the Carriage RV complex, and in early 2014, moved in with three CNC machines, and have added on multiple times since.
Today, Cutting Edge runs eight CNC machines, with a ninth on order. The lineup includes double-head and quad-head routers, designed for high-volume, repeatable production. The quad-head can cut four identical parts at the same time in a 15-inch-wide lane across the table, delivering roughly four times the output of a common single-head router in the same cycle.
For Danny, the real engine of growth is people: "Unless you have a good team around you, you're very limited in what you can achieve… Having that team around me has been the greatest blessing and the greatest difference maker for Cutting Edge CNC."
He also roots the company’s story in faith. Above his office door is the verse he sees as central to everything: “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain…”
RV Component Expo: A “Shot in the Arm”
The RV Component Expo has become a key part of Cutting Edge’s growth and branding strategy. The show is now in its third year; 2024 was Cutting Edge’s first time exhibiting, and 2025 saw them step up to a platinum sponsorship.
Danny calls that first year: "A big shot in the arm for us. We met a lot of new contacts… we saw a lot of existing customers come through that didn't realize what all we did."
By 2025, the focus shifted slightly. They still gained some new customers, but the real value was in depth: "We gained a few new [customers], probably not quite as many as 2024, but so many of the existing ones came back… For us to be there again and to be solid and to show new product, I think, spoke loudly to them that we are committed to this, and we're in the game."
He also pushes back on the idea that the RV space is only about being the cheapest: "The bad rap that [the RV industry has] gotten is not totally accurate… for the most part, people still want to buy from those that take care of them well and those that serve them well… When we serve well and try to provide a good product, they are loyal to us."
Cutting Edge Coatings: Powder-Coated MDF for High-Wear Areas
The newest chapter for Danny is Cutting Edge Coatings, a sister company created to tackle a long-standing challenge: putting a truly durable finish on MDF-based RV components.
"One of the challenges is to put a good coating on MDF and to make it look good… especially on the edges and any exposed cutaway areas.”
Liquid coatings are common and workable, but Danny and his team have long been curious: "For close to five years, we've been looking at, what would a powder-coated MDF look like? What would it take to do that?"
Now they’re moving forward. Powder coating, well-known on metal, offers harder, more durable finishes that can stand up to high traffic far better than most liquids:
"It provides a durable finish… it can handle high traffic for a much longer period of time than a liquid-coated piece will."
On cabinet doors, the difference is obvious. Liquid-coated cabinet doors often wear around the handle, but powder-coated doors shouldn’t show wear signs throughout the life of the RV.
This is not a new science—just new emphasis for this market: "We're not reinventing the wheel by any means… The bigger box stores are more used to a powder-coated wood product than you and I are… Shelving has been done for years."
To back it up, Cutting Edge Coatings is building strong quality control, including cross-hatch adhesion testing with special tape to confirm proper cure and adhesion.
For RV OEMs, the promise is flexibility plus durability—being able to specify tougher finishes in high-wear areas like steps and cabinet doors, without rethinking entire designs.
In closing, Danny shared how his leadership role has changed over the years.
"We all want to be part of something that's bigger than just ourselves… what we do here is bigger than just me, and there's days when I sit back and am just grateful to be part of what the team is doing here at Cutting Edge."
L & C WELDING

Building their Brand Through Relationships
5/4/2026 | Millersburg, IN | link here
L & C Welding has grown from a small custom fabrication shop into a trusted, full-service supplier to the RV industry. Founded in 2009 by Larry Miller, the company’s story is one of steady growth and strong relationships.
From Factory Line to Fabrication Shop
Before launching L & C Welding, Larry was working on the line in an RV factory, but he was always drawn to metalwork and fabrication.
In its early years, L & C Welding operated as a custom fabrication shop, taking on a wide variety of projects while slowly gaining exposure. The business started making components for the RV industry when Larry was asked to quote a single part; a quote that was never expected to turn into real business. Instead, that job became the foundation for something much larger.
“The first product line was a luggage rack on the back end of the RV… mounted on the bumper… And we still are doing those today.”
Steady Growth Over the Years
From there, growth was consistent for several years, RV work was only a small percentage of the business. Over time, however, that balance flipped and by 2016, L & C Welding had become primarily an RV industry supplier. The company had also grown to include R&D support, fabrication, powder coating, and full-assembly to their offerings, and in 2024, L & C Welding moved into a larger facility in Millersburg, IN.
Even as the company scales, Larry is careful not to grow faster than the team can support: “As long as we don’t take a bigger bite than we actually can handle… if we bite off too much that we can’t handle… that’s the worst thing for the business.”
Using the RV Component Exposition to Fuel Growth
A major accelerator for L & C Welding has been its involvement in the RV Component Exposition, where the company has participated since the beginning.
The first year was a learning experience: “Year one, we didn’t exactly know how the setup process is going to look… just basically started from scratch… put up some walls… blasted some small parts on it.”
The effort needed was significant, but so was the reward, especially the chance to meet long-time customers face to face.
By year two, L & C Welding came better prepared, invested more heavily, and upgraded from a gold to a platinum sponsorship. The show itself grew from roughly 350 attendees in year one to about 700 in year two and L & C Welding felt the difference: “Year two was… more a success than the first year… The reason for that is basically just broaden[ing] our band quite a bit… there was more customers walking through… more plants going through the whole thing.”
Looking to year three, L & C Welding plans to refresh its booth while keeping the footprint the same - more parts, more ideas, more impact. The company is also leaning into collaboration, partnering with Kabri Products and neighboring suppliers in a combined three-booth lineup: “[Kabri Products] are repping for us… They’re out there… showing their faces for us. So that’s a big help to us.”
Integrity Matters
L & C Welding’s promise is simple: stand behind what you quote. “What we quote people is what I want to deliver - to service them the best we can.”
In an industry where lead times, trust, and responsiveness are critical, that mindset has helped L & C Welding achieve goals and continue to improve.

API Reflects on a Successful RV Component Expo and Looks Ahead
4/22/2026 | LaGrange, IN | link here
Automated Products International (API) was proud to exhibit at the 2025 RV Component Expo at the MEC Center in Shipshewana, Indiana. The event continues to be a valuable gathering for suppliers and manufacturers across the RV industry, and last year’s experience reinforced API's commitment to participating.
From the moment the show opened, we experienced strong engagement at our booth. The Expo provided an excellent opportunity to showcase our Custom Shapeable Aluminum I-Beam RV Roof Truss and our fully assembled roof frame systems for RVs and specialty trailers. More importantly, it enabled us to have meaningful, face-to-face conversations with OEMs, engineers, and decision-makers who are actively seeking ways to improve their products.
One of the most encouraging aspects of this year’s show was the curiosity and openness among attendees. Many manufacturers are beginning to recognize that while traditional wood roof systems have been the industry standard for decades, there is a growing need for solutions that deliver greater durability, consistency, and long-term value. The Expo provided the ideal setting to discuss these challenges and introduce API’s engineered aluminum approach as a forward-thinking alternative.
We also appreciated the quality of the event itself. The MEC continues to provide a well-organized, focused setting where meaningful business conversations can take place without distraction. The location in Shipshewana is ideal for the RV industry, making it convenient for many manufacturers to attend and engage.
For API, the Expo is not just about displaying a product—it’s about building relationships and contributing to the industry's ongoing advancement. The discussions we had this year confirmed that there is real momentum toward innovation, and we are excited to be part of that progress.
Based on our experience, we plan to continue exhibiting at the RV Component Expo. It remains an important platform for connecting with industry partners, sharing new ideas, and demonstrating the value of engineered solutions such as our aluminum roof truss systems.
We look forward to returning this year and continuing the conversations that began last October.
